The Gospel wants your loyalty...

There comes a day when in discipling, you recognize that it is not the tools or the behavioral practices that have furthered the transformation of the laborer. But the laborers greatest transformative moments revolve around the Gospel. The daily decisions to allow the gospel to rule and reign exclusively in their life. You have helped others enough to know that you can interchange disciplines and tools and produce no more fruitful labor. Produce no more obedient disciple. 

It is easy to believe that the glory of God needs help. A focusing lens to make it potent. A framework to make it scaleable. So what do you do when you realized that the glory of God, through the gospel is not assisted buy your perfect practices? What is your gospel trajectory? What do you do in the future? I hear over and over from equippers that they are learning to believe that the answer is to live in the glory of God and to train your disciples to live in the glory of God as exclusively as possible. As Milton Vincent says, “The glory of God in it’s greatest density is found in the Gospel.”. Somehow we have to put training and equipping back in the context of the Gospel. Pull of the shroud that is blocking the light of the Gospel. Discipleship and laboring have, in fact always been there, but our man made blinders taught us a lie. The lie?: That the Gospel is incomplete as both a plan and the power for developing laborers. Faith needs to be beefed up with behaviorism. 

Could you discard behaviorism for true faith?
Could you believe in the Gospel exclusively for the power to equip laborers?

What might happen if you give all your fealty to Christ and His Gospel, “for it is the power of God for salvation.”

Relegating the Cross to Easter

It took a long time, but we have finally squeezed the cross into a box. Rather than the explosion that is sending a tidal wave of reality changing impact forward and backwards in time, we are binding up the cross effectively into the 4 days from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday. It now requires only a head nod of honor, via pastel dress shirts, and baskets with green plastic grass.  We all, walking with God daily, sense that it isn’t right.  Our buttoned up Easter celebrations, doesn’t jive with the soul shaking reality of the cross. Still, we will write blogs, and put snippets on Facebook, pointing out pieces of the gospel. They will say things like,"This Easter, reflect on the impact of these scriptures in your life.” Implying that all we need is a little tune up in relation to the cross.
